چکیده

Shared autonomous vehicles could provide low-cost service to travelers and possibly replace the need for personal vehicles. Previous studies found that each SAV could service multiple travelers, thereby eliminating several personal vehicle trips, and strategies such as preemptive relocation or dynamic ride-sharing could further improve service. However, a major limitation of previous studies is the reliance on custom software packages with unrealistic congestion models, network structures, or travel demand. For effective comparisons with personal vehicle scenarios, a common traffic flow simulator is necessary. This paper develops an event-based framework for implementing SAV behavior in existing traffic simulation models. We demonstrate this framework by implementing SAV behavior in a cell transmission model-based dynamic traffic assignment simulator. We also study a heuristic approach for dynamic ride-sharing. We compared personal vehicles and SAV scenarios on the downtown Austin city network. Without dynamic ride-sharing, the addi-

On-demand high-capacity ride-sharing via dynamic trip-vehicle assignment

Ride-sharing services are transforming urban mobility by providing timely and convenient transportation to anybody, anywhere, and anytime. These services present enormous potential for positive societal impacts with respect to pollution, energy consumption, congestion, etc. Current mathematical models, however, do not fully address the potential of ride-sharing. Recently, a large-scale study hi...

Structural analysis of the deck of access bridges in offshore docks under dynamic loading of moving heavy vehicles (Case study: 10 feet concrete deck with prefabricated beam, under the passage of 125-ton bogie)

Ports are the most important economic, political and military bottlenecks. This puts shoreline structures (port) in the class of important structures and they have a crucial role in the countries’ life. Pile and deck wharf and their access bridges and offshore deck (jetties), are one of the parts which are supplier of coupling between the land and the waterfront. Correct and exact estimation of...

A General Dynamic Function for the Basal Area of Individual Trees Derived from a Production Theoretically Motivated Autonomous Differential Equation

The management of forests may be motivated from production economic and environmental perspectives. The dynamically changing properties of trees affect environmental objectives and values of trees as raw material in the construction sector and in the energy sector. In order to optimize the management of forests, it is necessary to have access to reliable functions that predict how trees develop...

Optimizing the Static and Dynamic Scheduling problem of Automated Guided Vehicles in Container Terminals

The Minimum Cost Flow (MCF) problem is a well-known problem in the area of network optimisation. To tackle this problem, Network Simplex Algorithm (NSA) is the fastest solution method. NSA has three extensions, namely Network Simplex plus Algorithm (NSA+), Dynamic Network Simplex Algorithm (DNSA) and Dynamic Network Simplex plus Algorithm (DNSA+). The objectives of the research reported in this...
